Self-Esteem: The Magic X-Factor

On June 22, 2009, in Blog, by Anthony

Self-esteem is one of the most important aspects influencing your performance and success in many areas of life. It can help you get a job (and keep on getting promotions!). It can help you make friends and get dates. And people with high self-esteem generally feel happier, healthier, and more stable and secure.

Don Hamachek is a highly respected author and researcher in the field of psychology. He’s had a big influence on studies of self-esteem and interpersonal relationships. His research was published in Encounters with Others (New York: Holt, Rinehart, & Wilson, 1982). Here are some of his findings on the importance of self-esteem:

People with high self-esteem . . .
* Usually see other people in a better light, too.
* Expect other people to like and accept them.
* Perform better in high pressure situations, and do better work when the standards are high.
* Feel confident and secure enough to shrug off negative comments from others.

On the other hand, people with low self-esteem . . .
* Frequently dislike others.
* Expect that other people will dislike and reject them.
* Have trouble performing under pressure, and find it hard to work in demanding environments.
* Are more vulnerable to negative comments and reactions from others.

These tendencies can spill over into all areas of a person’s life, with big consequences. That’s why self-esteem is the critical factor – it’s one of those make-or-break variables that has the power to transform your life, for good or bad. High self-esteem is a little like a magic spell that works in any number of situations.

If you’re struggling in any area of your life, whether personal or professional, it’s possible that your problems are just symptoms of a bigger problem: low self-esteem. Find a way to improve your self-esteem, and you can expect things to start improving in lots of ways.

Those of you who know me, know that I don’t recommend many products.  I do however on occasion recommend products from the Hypnosis Network.  They offer the best hypnosis products from the best psychologists hypnosis has to offer.

Core Inner Strength, a hypnosis program developed by Dr. Shirley McNeal, is a fun and easy way to improve your self-esteem. In just four hypnotic sessions, you will discover the life-changing secrets behind experiencing comfort and safety in yourself, raising your self-esteem and self-confidence, and finding your inner strength.

Dude, this is so funny. It’s sort of an inside joke, but my ex-girlfriend was having problems with her confidence and a counselor recommended that exact program. It worked alright because she dumped me! It was a done deal anyway but we like to joke that it was all downhill after she started that program! We are actually still good friends. Small world. I have not thought about that program in awhile. Maybe I should try it. What a funny coincidence.

    Peace,
    Dev

I agree with Duane. I know that when I was younger and did not have much self-esteem, I thought things that probably were not true such as people not liking me when in fact they probably had no opinion or actually liked me. That program looks pretty cool.

Found this sight after watching your X-Whites interview on YouTube. I like your writing. I totally agree with the functional nutrition stuff and I especially liked that beliefs stuff. I did the exercises and wow. I learned some things about myself that I never would have believed to be true but are. Not always easy to see the truth but valuable in the long run. How can I contact you to talk about using your services? I have food allergies and what I think is Celiac’s or a gluten intolerance and need help.

    Thanks,
    Dirk

    Anthony,

It’s important to feel good about oneself. It makes you feel light-hearted and less baggage to weight you down and hence give you a better chance to perform well.

Being in sales, I find that self esteem works to get people to purchase. If you are confident, smiling, and just very direct in many ways, it seems to help close a sale. Maybe that is a silly analogy, but I can find that I can possess great self esteem in certain situations when I am in control and behind a desk. But in regular life, I can admit that I can have low self esteem in that I always seem to worry whether or not people will accept me. I guess we all are works in progess and we can all work on ourselves in that regard.
Dev made me laugh with his story. As far as hypnotism I just picture myself walking around with head phones on while someone is pumping information in my ears. Reminds me of a movie I just recently saw called,”The Promotion”.

    Hi Dirk,
I love the X-Whites! Bernie is a good friend and we Jammed together in another project. I support them when I can. As far as the beliefs stuff goes, most people are shocked to find out what their real beliefs are! I would love to talk to you about your food allergies and possible gluten intolerance/celiac’s. I have Celiac’s and also many food allergies that came about after a toxic exposure some years back. I know how maddening it can be and how sick and crazy all that can make you feel. You can call me at 814-474-4925 to see if we are a good match. I work with some bigger guns and if you are really, really sick I can make a referal or give you a list of things (tests and such) you can discuss with your current health care provider. The first step is to talk because we need to see where you are and what your needs are. I look forward to talking with you.

    Hi Cindy,
What you say is not uncommon at all. I have a psychologist that I consult with and she has mentioned on more than a few occasions that there is a phenomenon where women excel in the workplace, have an abundance of skills, maturity, confidence, etc but have deficits and/or completely disfunctional patterns with home, health, life in general, etc.

I saw the promotion. It was a funny movie. Those were affirmations. Something I find to be largely ineffective or realistic…a bit New Agey. The hypnosis CD’s are much different and very, very effective. You have to be lying or sitting down and also free of distractions. I have been to a hypnotherapist and used self-hypnosis on myself. It works and works well when approached intelligently and realistically. Also, it is important to realize most of what you see on the internet is bullshit and marketing hype. The hypnosis network is the only company I work with because everything produce is done by the best psychologists/hypnotherapists. I have never had any negative feedback and am actually about to do a test run with one of their products and share the ongoing results with everyone.

Thanks for stopping by and for your intelligent and insightful comments!

    Kind Regards,
    Anthony

  9. Hi Anthony,

self esteem is so important in both business and personal relationships. So many people struggle with this both from the grief feelings often left over from earlier events in their lives. How marvelous of you to provide several really practical helpful resources to people to help them boost their self esteem.

keep up the great work, sir!

    Hi Lisa,

I rarely do recommendations but people seem to love it. Especially women. They are a great company to work with and I know they give refunds, no questions asked, if you dislike anything about their products at all.

  11. JJ Jalopy says:

    Interesting…

I think we all struggle with self-belief occasionally.

I’ve used hypnosis tapes before but never really got much out of them… It can’t help to put as much good stuff into your brain as you can though. God knows enough unresourceful stuff gets pumped in there!

    Keep on rockin’ Anthony!

I have also struggled with self esteem in the past and personally knowing and working with Anthony as a client, believe in anything he suggests.

  13. Joseph Campbell says:

Self-esteem is such an asset to keep the mind chatter from distracting and disabling us. I have heard of that program and have also been told that the company that puts it out is the best, hands down. The winner of “The Biggest Loser” gained all his weight back after the show and actually re-lost it and kept it off using their weight-loss hypnosis program. Glad to see that when you do recommend something on that rare occasion it is not bull. Not that I would expect you too. Holosync is amazing by the way so I can totally see why you recommend it to your clients and friends.

Normally I would not approve, but I know and like them so it is okay. Besides, anything like that instantly comes up as spam. I have to approve it anyway. You would not believe some of the shifty ways people try to promote themselves or their products on my blog. I get over 6000 visitors/day (as of today) and many try to promote through my blog. I often don’t even care if they are out in the open and really reading my blog. However, the majority are automated or something weird like that and maybe even have viruses. My spam box at WordPress is often inundated depending on what I am writing about. Thanks for the recommendation.

    Jody,

Wow! Thanks for the unsolicited endorsement! It is easy to work with people who are serious about their goals and execute a plan of action. Thank you for making my job easy and making me look good by doing all of the work! By the way, is that one or two thumbs up?
